Ray
Easton resides in
Penfield
,
NY
. Just adjacent to
the Thousand acre swamp, which yields a never-ending
supply of reference material and
inspiration for his wildlife
paintings.
He is truly an artist of nature, specializing in the
birds of
North America
. He works on specially prepared
canvas boards with his preferred
medium being acrylics.
Ray works through private and
corporate commissions and
exhibits throughout the
United States
. His quest
begins in the field where he spends
numerous hours photographing
and observing. Particular attention is
then given to light, composition
and anatomy, which he claims are the
three most important elements
of his work.
In 1996 Ray was commissioned by the
Department of Environmental
Conservation to paint the
New York
State
Duck Stamp.
He was selected as the “Wildlife
artist of the year”
at the State Fair in
Syracuse
,
NY
. in 1995, ‘99, 2001, and
’03.
He was also the recipient of the
“Peoples choice Award” in 1999 and 2000
for the same exhibit and has won
numerous awards at various installations
throughout his career.
